Groups#
Google Groups are central to Biocommons communications
Google groups are used to grant access to files, invite people to meetings, and, of course, for email distribution.
The following groups are publicly viewable without registration.
For all users#
-
biocommons-announce Announcement-only list. Low-volume list primarily for announcements of new releases, meetings, and similar information.
-
biocommons-users Discussion list for users to ask and answer questions about using biocommons tools. This group was migrated from the hgvs-discuss list, which is now obsolete.
For contributors#
-
biocommons-devs Discussion list for developers of biocommons tools. This is the place to get started as a developer.
-
biocommons-maintainers Discussion list for biocommons maintainers. Members of the GitHub maintainers team are added automatically and can post.
Meetings#
There are currently two recurring meetings relevant to the community:
-
biocommons collective coding: Second Monday, 8:30-11:30 am PT, open to everyone (add to calendar). Code with the community over Google Meet. Join biocommons-devs to get a calendar invitation. This is a good opportunity to ask and answer questions, collaborate, get input on ideas, etc. Attendance varies month-to-month, so consider coordinating on Slack if you're looking to meet up with someone. Please indicate attendance on Google Calendar.
-
biocommons maintainers meeting: Starting March 25, 2024. Fourth Monday, 9-10am PT, mandatory for maintainers and open to everyone (add to calendar). Folks in biocommons-maintainers will be added automatically This is where we coordinate between projects to ensure that the biocommons evolves coherently. Agenda in meeting notes.
Documents#
The Google Drive folder contains presentations, project planning, manuscripts, and similar documents.
Slack#
Slack is the fastest way to get fast answers. Join biocommons Slack workspace, then introduce yourself on #intros.
